Netanyahu wins 5th term as Israeli PM: final results

When Netanyahu wanted to close his deal with voters last weekend, he reached out to the right, not the center.

This week's election was a hard-fought battle.

But "King Bibi", as some have called him, now faces the prospect of becoming the first sitting prime minister to be indicted. So he's looking to the right-wing parties in his outgoing government and he'll have to give their leaders cabinet ministries and assure them he will look out for their issues.

Likud's fortunes have been boosted by the collapse of the traditional left parties in Israeli politics. The alliance was officially declared only on February 21. Unlike many other news organizations, we have not put up a paywall.

After 100% of the ballots had been counted, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party got 36 mandates in the Knesset, local media reported, citing the official results of the Israeli general election. Still, they saw their representation dip.

Netanyahu's most immediate problem is to find a way to protect himself from the slew of criminal investigations and potential corruption charges that have been attached to his name in recent months.

President Reuven Rivlin will on Monday begin consultations with leaders and senior representatives of the 11 parties that won Knesset seats in Monday's elections, to receive their recommendations for the candidate who should be tasked with forming the next government. Ganz has declared that Netanyahu won the election, conceding the opportunity to form a government.

In 2018, he played the most number of games in the IPL - 16 - scoring 316 runs at a staggering strike-rate of 184 plus. In this match, Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson is not playing due to injury and Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the captain.

He helped talk Trump into pulling the US out of the Iran nuclear deal. Trump had already moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, an outcome long sought by Israel's right.

But even if he tries, it's unclear whether Netanyahu would have the votes to succeed.

"In the wake of his narrow reelection, we urge Prime Minister Netanyahu to reverse course from his provocative campaign rhetoric", the USA progressive leaders said.

Born close to or after the 1993 Oslo peace accords between the Israelis and Palestinians, and coming of age during the second Palestinian "intifada", Israel's young people take a harder line on security and peace than older generations.

In a rare turn during the race towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Netanyahu further alarmed Palestinians by pledging to annex Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank if re-elected. We are talking about no less than 400 settlements (housing at least 400,000 settlers), all deemed illegal under worldwide law, as they violate the law of occupation.

After the election, Trump predicted that Netanyahu's win would make a peace breakthrough more likely. But annexation would draw a big outcry from the Palestinians and governments around the world, which hold that the West Bank should be resolved by peace talks. The long-awaited peace plan prepared by his chief Middle East envoy, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, is now dead on arrival.

"(I) thanked President Trump for his tremendous support for Israel, including recognition of Jerusalem and the Golan", he said.
