Xiaomi Unveils Mi Mix 3 5G - Lowest Cost 5G Handset

Other than that, the handset is a 5G variant of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Though, those staying in the Western Hemisphere won't be able to get their hands on the device soon and can forget of taking advantage of the next-gen 5G network.

Unfortunately, there's no word on the dimensions and weight of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G, which makes us a little anxious.

It appears the 5G smartphone will have most of the same specifications as the existing Mi Mix 3, using the same 6.39-inch bezel-less AMOLED screen as its non-5G variant that had launched in October.

Xiaomi showed off its newest model - and a revamped 5G model of last year's phone - at Mobile World Congress, along with some ridiculously fast wireless charging, 48MP cameras, and holographic phone coatings. It is worth noting that Xiaomi Mall provides accident protection service for the Xiaomi Mi 9 at a price of 299 yuan ($45).

Also on the back is an upgraded wireless charging coil that now supports the first ever 20W super fast Qi wireless charging standard, which is actually faster charging than the 18W QuickCharge 3.0 wired adapter included in the box.

Back in 2018, Xiaomi announced its first smartphone with a sliding camera, the Mi MIX 3. The pad can fully charge the device in only 90 minutes.

Those specs are pretty much the norm for flagship smartphones these days, but where Xiaomi shines is the price: The Mi 9 costs 449 euros ($509) for the 6/64GB version, and 499 euros ($566) for the 6/128GB version. Moreover, the customers can pre-order Mi 9 in European countries such as Spain, Italy, and France.

The Mi Mix 3 5G is touted to continue the Mi Mix 3 legacy, including the ceramic body and the slider mechanism.

Samsung had earlier unveiled its 5G phone at an event in the US. The announcement comes just a day after Oppo announced that it will launch a 5G smartphone during second quarter of this year while Samsung plans to sell 5G version of Galaxy S10 during second half of this year.
