‘Voice’ singer Janice Freeman dead at 33

The 33-year-old singer passed away on Saturday from an apparent blood clot, according to TMZ.

Freeman's manager told TMZ she was battling both bronchitis and lupus, and the blood clot was found in her lungs.

The singer was at home with her husband Dion in Pasadena, Calif., when she reportedly todl him she had trouble breathing. Freeman was pronounced dead at the local hospital at around 5:30pm. The pair remained friends after the show, and in 2017, Cyrus paid Freeman's rent for six months when she was experiencing financial difficulty. The two had actually maintained contact following Freeman's elimination on the voice, as just a year ago Freeman had posted an emotional video online thanking Cyrus for her support.

When it was revealed she had passed away, many celebrities and social media figures reached out on Twitter and Instagram, including Jennifer Hudson, who described Freeman as a "blessing" as well as an "inspiration" for her perseverance as an artist struggling with the aforementioned illnesses.

After the news of Freeman's passing broke, Cyrus shared a picture of a rainbow on Instagram, saying "Thank you @janicefreeman ... for everything".

Freeman stunned judges of "The Voice" during season 13 with a powerful rendition of "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. "She had traveled to Kansas City just a week ago (Friday, Feb 22) to perform at a gala one of my client's was sponsoring, and performed beautifully".

In season 13 of the singing competition show, Freeman was on Miley Cyrus' team, where she dazzled audiences with her soulful performances.

"This woman blessed me to be able to move in".

Freeman is survived by her husband, Dion, and her daughter.

Her cause of death was not immediately known. "And she allows God to use her to bless my life".
