Trump tweets Cohen grilling may have led to failure with N. Korea

"For the Democrats to interview in open hearings a convicted liar & fraudster, at the same time as the very important Nuclear Summit with North Korea, is perhaps a new low in American politics and may have contributed to the "walk", Trump said on Twitter.

As Cohen testified, Trump was meeting with Kim in Hanoi.

Cohen, Trump's former personal attorney, testified before the House committee on government oversight on February 27.

Fox News anchor Bret Baier said President Donald Trump's claim that his former lawyer was to blame for scuttling his North Korea summit was a "stretch" on Monday.

The New York Times positioned its article on the Cohen testimony above its coverage of the Trump-Kim summit.

On Monday, Russian media reports said members of a parliamentary group that deals with Russia's relations with North Korea will visit Pyongyang on April 12.

"The military drills, or war games as I call them, were never even discussed in my mtg w/ Kim Jong Un of NK", Trump tweeted days after he met with Kim in Vietnam in an attempt to reach a denuclearization agreement.

"He tells me that he didn't know about it, and I will take him at his word", Trump said at a news conference last week.

"Sometimes you have to walk and this was just one of those times", Trump said at the time.

Winter storm tonight into Sunday morning
Kristin Keller, General Manager of Firsco Lodge, shovels snow off their parking lot Friday, March 1, along Main Street in Frisco . Temperatures across the Northeast will hover close to the freezing mark so that the snow will be more of the heavy, wet type.

"It doesn't mean that he accepts it as reality".

"The prospect for success seemed dim in light of the insincerity of Kim Jong Un", Pelosi said.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., a close Trump ally, broke with the president. Moon, however, didn't mention how the summit was cut short because Kim and Trump failed to find middle ground on this crucial issue. Kim will be able to portray himself to his people and supporters as the charismatic head of a nuclear-armed power, not an global pariah that starves its citizens so it can build weapons.

The House Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.), had gone through multiple dates for its highly anticipated hearing with Cohen, who has been called to appear before several congressional panels and is scheduled to go to prison in May.

"... The president held firm to his view".

Despite earlier speculation, Mr Kim did not stop in Guangzhou, a Chinese port city north-west of Hong Kong, nor in Beijing to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on his way back home.

Moon lauded both sides for having talked about the complete demolition of North's Yongbyon nuclear facility under the observation of American experts, saying the scrapping of Yongbyon would mark an "irreversible" step in North Korean denuclearization.

Also Sunday, Trump says the reason he canceled large-scale springtime military drills with South Korea is to save "hundreds of millions of dollars" for which the never reimbursed. He also said the president acted irresponsibly with regard to North Korea's nuclear arsenal.

"My opinion doesn't matter", Bolton told CNN's "The State of the Union."
