Raheem Sterling nets treble as Manchester City beat Watford

As in last weekend's 1-0 win at Bournemouth, City were stifled during a goalless first-half and unable to create regular chances against a disciplined Watford.

Within a minute of the restart, however, Sterling put City ahead with a controversial goal that was initially ruled out for offside before referee Paul Tierney changed his mind after lengthy consultation with his assistant.

The laws on offside certainly seem to suggest that Sterling was offside and now former Premier League referee Chris Foy has backed up that notion.

"All we can do is focus on ourselves, but let's hope we can get a bit of luck as well".

Sterling's second goal came quickly after the contentious opener and his third was a smart finish, taking his tally to 18 for the season in all competitions.

"So if they win then they've got that 24-hour window to think about that game the next day, even though it's Burnley at home and they should win".

"Massive win. hard in first half to break them down".

Following prolonged discussions between the match officials, the goal was awarded despite Sterling being in an offside position when Aguero touched the ball into his path, because Janmaat played it against the England winger's shin for the ricochet into the net.

Gerard Deulofeu pulled a goal back for Watford with his first touch after latching onto Troy Deeney's flick, but it was merely a consolation.

LeBron passes Jordan: Who's above James in the all-time points list?
Although the lineup scrapped to keep it close , they never managed to get over the hump, even when James entered the game. The Lakers already were without Ball, who has been out with a sprained ankle and a bone bruise for six weeks.

"In the first half we had a very good performance - better defensively because we were well organised", manager Gracia said.

While the Reds still have a game in hand over the champions, the pressure is gradually being ramped up with every passing game.

Ward-Prowse's stunning free-kick victor left Spurs on 61 points, 13 behind Man City and nine adrift of Liverpool.

"We are now investigating these matters and will allow Manchester City every opportunity to explain the context and detail surrounding them".

Financial regulations such as salary caps were first introduced in the National Basketball Association in 1984, and U.S. owners in the Premier League have subsequently come to expect similar measures to be taken in the English top flight, with any breaking of the rules to be punished.

Fellow strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion also had reason to cheer as a dazzling individual goal from Anthony Knockaert sealed their 2-1 win at fierce rivals Crystal Palace.

City are still in the running for an unprecedented quadruple, having lost only once in 2019 - to Newcastle United in the Premier League - amid a run that included their EFL Cup final triumph over Chelsea on penalties.
