Passionate Klopp gets straight to the point, Liverpool’s Van Dijk says

Jurgen Klopp's side last won the league title 29 years ago and a win for them this season will allow them move to 19 wins in the English topflight, one behind Man United's record 20.

"I like Klopp as a manager, it doesn't mean I don't like Pep Guardiola because he plays exceptional football".

However, an unconvincing Liverpool do not look like a team ready to win every game between now and the end of a season that will be decided over a frantic 44-day period that starts next Saturday.

The big question hovering over all of this is: Are Liverpool good enough to take advantage if City stumble?

"But the Premier League would be something special".

They are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Porto, and back on top of the Premier League table.

It's not just Klopp that's feeling the pressure either, Mohamed Salah has looked like a different player this calendar year than he did at this point last season when the pressure wasn't so heavy in the league. "I don't think there's too much in it", Carragher said of the current state of play.

We saw Liverpool struggling to beat Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend and it was a reminder that no game can be taken for granted.

Van Dijk's efforts have helped to push Liverpool into contention for major honours this season.

City last season had the advantage that none of the other teams were even close to being at the races and that ultimately helped them to march to the title and break nearly every record.

They now have a two point advantage over Manchester City, who have a game in hand, and it's all to play for with just seven games to go.

The former England worldwide who began his career with Liverpool's bitter rivals Everton before joining Manchester United, said he would prefer city neighbours, Man City win the league.

And when joined his Groningen teammates for pre-season it was vividly clear that Van Dijk lost weight while battling for his life.
