Luke Walton defends LeBron James after ugly Knicks loss

The Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks do battle at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers led by 11 with under 3 ½ minutes remaining before the Knicks charged back largely due to their defense against James.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a slump of their own as they will be hoping to put a halt to an ugly eight-game skid after getting blown out by the Spurs in a 109-83 road loss on Saturday. For a game that involved two teams that have embraced losing and lottery balls the remainder of the season, this was quite an entertaining game. So there's no difference.

So we'll spend three or four days discussing how his choice of seats is the real problem with the Lakers.

They did so with Mario Hezonja securing the win over the Lakers by blocking James' shot on a potential game-winner.

Caldwell-Pope drained another 3-pointer with under five minutes to play before James sank the jumper to push the advantage to 11.

Marc Stein of the New York Times did his postseason autopsy on what went wrong for the Lakers, which included an interesting note about management's feelings towards the coaching staff.

Beto O'Rourke Nabs First Congressional Endorsement from Kathleen Rice
Telling the diners that this is his first visit to Iowa, O'Rourke told them that he wanted to hear what's on their minds. But that's not the case with Beto O'Rourke, the former Texas congressman who threw his hat in the ring late Wednesday .

It was the latest low in a downright miserable second half of the season. Back in the Knicks' 119-112 win in Los Angeles on January 4, Hezonja scored 10 points in the fourth quarter. "If you are saying that you are the reason that he is missing shots, you are an idiot".

Emmaneul Mudiay led the Knicks with 28 points and eight assists while DeAndre Jordan had 15 points and 17 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kyle Kuzma had himself a nice time making decisions for himself and others, tallying 18 points and eight assists.

"He's one of the all-time great players in our league", said Walton. But reality is quite often different to expectations and as it stands the purple and gold have the same amount of wins today, 31, as they did at the same time past year. Eventually he tried to take the fourth-year forward off the dribble, but the 6-foot-8 Hezonja managed to stay in front of James and snuffed out his shot attempt with surprising ease.

"Back-to-back games, I think it's going to be good for him".

The Lakers meanwhile are stuck in 11th spot in the Western Conference with 31 wins and 39 defeats, nine wins fewer than the Los Angeles Clippers, who occupy the last remaining playoff berth. "And that's it. Everything else comes secondary, they only want us to go out and perform at a high level and play the game at a high level so we can be mentioned with some of the great teams that's in the league at that point in time. In the public you gotta be a part of the team", Frazier said.
