Anthem’s nasty crashing bug has caught EA’s attention

Unsurprisingly, those whose consoles are now expensive paperweights are advising people not to play the game.

Anthem publisher EA has also reportedly asked for help to diagnose the bug and its causes.

In a post to its customer support Twitter account, Electronic Arts said that it is aware of the issue and asks PS4 Anthem players to report these crashes in a thread on its Answer site (assuming they didn't already do so when their console prompted them to).

Let's hope Bioware roll out a fix soon, otherwise Anthem's notorious reputation is going to suffer another hit. Now, it seems the title is crashing some player's consoles. I suppose that day-one patch was just for show.

As you may know, Anthem has had crashing issues on every platform since launch, but it appears the PS4 is where the most problems are being had.

If it's one thing that proves Anthem needed more time in the oven, it's the reports that BioWare's new live shooter is messing with console and PC hardware. In fact, "due to the high volume of these kinds of posts", Reddit is now redirecting players to an Anthem bugs, errors and issues mega-thread. The PS4 version of the game now has a score of 57/100 on Metacritic, but it has been even more mercilessly judged by users, who have scored it at 4.2/10.

Sony Offering Refunds for Anthem PS4 Owners

Forbes video games journalist Paul Tassi, who recently reviewed Anthem on Xbox One X, said that he experienced similar shut down issues while playing the game on Microsoft's console.

Updated March 5 with a tweet from EA calling for crash data reports.

Following this type of crash, some found pushing the front button wouldn't start the console; instead, they had to unplug the machine and plug it back in.

"Then once the OS loads it displays a system error reporting page to send the error to Sony".

Successful Anthem refunds have also been reported via Sony's support phone line: 1-800-345-SONY (7669).
