Trump misses Senate deadline to report on Khashoggi killing

USA intelligence agencies believe Crown Prince Mohammed ordered Mr Khashoggi's killing, but Donald Trump has rejected the claim.

The crown prince said this to a top aide in 2017, the newspaper said, citing unnamed current and former US and foreign officials described as having first-hand knowledge of intelligence reports on the conversation.

U.S. intelligence analysists reportedly concluded that Prince Mohammed had likely used the phrase a metaphor, expressing his intention to kill the journalists unless he returned to Saudi Arabia.

In the audio, the Crown Prince allegedly said he wanted Khashoggi to return to the kingdom, and complained his work was hurting the leader's image as a reformer. The state of Saudi vehemently denies any involvement of the Crown Prince in the murder, instead blaming "rogue elements" who had acted of their own accord.

Saudi officials initially insisted that Khashoggi left the building unharmed, but acknowledged weeks later that the journalist was killed.

Saudi Arabia will not normalize ties with Israel or support the Trump administration's peace plan without significant Israeli concessions to the Palestinians, according to a classified Foreign Ministry document reported by Israeli television Friday. Trump announced in November that he would not downgrade the US relationship with Saudi Arabia, regardless of whether Saudi rulers were culpable.

Saudi officials "planned and perpetrated" the torture and killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a United Nations-led inquiry has found.

While US intelligence officials stressed that MBS may not have meant those words in a literal sense, they said it indicates that the crown prince had expressed a desire to see the Washington Post journalist dead.

Crowds flock to celebrate Chinese Year of the Pig
Those born in "pig" years were considered kind, generous, magnanimous, warm-hearted and considerate, and were leaders, he said. This year is the Year of the Earth Pig on the Lunar calendar and is supposed to represent abundance, diligence and generosity.

Cengiz, a Turkish researcher, had waited outside the Istanbul consulate for hours on the day Khashoggi was killed and alerted the authorities and media when he did not leave.

"It's been clear that the president has tried to put this matter behind him, move on with the U.S. -Saudi relationship", Mazzetti said.

USA intelligence services have also stated that they believe the Crown Prince had instructed a team of Saudi operatives to carry out the killing, allegations that Riyadh has strongly denied.

A department spokesman pointed to last year's revocation of visas for almost two dozen Saudi officials and the freezing of assets of 17 others after Khashoggi's murder.

Turkey had made great efforts and showed major success by using both judicial and administrative capacity until the end in order to reveal the truth against the violation of a right to life and human rights, said the minister.

"I think that's what intelligence agencies do", he said.

The Wall Street Journal earlier had reported that the prince spoke with aides in 2017 about ways to get Khoshoggi to Saudi Arabia or, if that failed, to a third country.
