Samsung Ups 5G Ante at MWC amid Huawei Row

The device will also have 55W SuperCharge, making it the fastest charging smartphone, and Huawei says the Mate X can top up 85% of the battery in 30 minutes. While it is possible this could be a fake it appears to be authentic and the timing of the advert installation coincides with the announcement. The Samsung counterpart also has a similar camera setup, though the Mate 20 Pro offers more zoom then again the Samsung has a variable aperture. The Huawei Mate X features a Kirin 980 chipset with the Balong 5000 modem meaning it's Huawei's first 5G handset, and the company's most unique device to date. Well like all the foldable phones we've seen, it's phone that folds out and creates a tablet.

Other features include a fingerprint sensor that's built right into the power button on the side, as well as a thicker bar on the left side which acts both as a handle for the device when held in tablet mode, but also as a housing for the triple- or quad-lens Leica-branded camera.

Shared by Twitter user gimme2pm, the billboard shows a Huawei device called "Mate X" in its folded, bent, and fully unfolded states. Huawei hasn't compromised the folded design here; there's no substandard screen sizes.

If the advertisement is real, the Chinese vendor has chose to name the upcoming device the Huawei Mate X. It'll also come with 5G support, which jives with what Huawei has previously said about the mysterious product. Huawei said during the presentation that its 5G tech would deliver sub-6G speeds, which in theory will be twice as fast as Qualcomm's chips. Initial rumours claimed that alongside based on a foldable phone form factor, the Huawei Mate X will come with 5G support.

When reporters asked if the incident was a murder-suicide, the sheriff said it is a possibility police are investigating. She said there is no information to identify them, and couldn't specify any relation to each other.

In terms of colourway the Mate X comes in Interstellar Blue. That price tops the high end of Samsung's Galaxy Fold, which will sell for an eye-popping $1980, as well as Apple's premium iPhones. Instead the camera is built into a side-bar which sits on the back of the phone when unfolded, which also stores its 5G antenna and power jack. Truly impressive... And when you fold it in its compact state, parts of the screen go dark and to divide it into a separate 6.6-inch front screen part and a 6.4-inch back part.

Using Intel's 5G mobile trial platform and Ericsson's software, the two have proved they can run 4G and 5G traffic simultaneously on the same frequency carrier.

As for the U.S., Huawei can only make so much headway as long as the government is casting the company as a cyber-villain, said Gartner analyst Tuong Nguyen.
