Oscar-nominated actor Albert Finney dead at 82

Tributes to the late Albert Finney flooded social media on Friday following the announcement that the acclaimed British star of stage and screen had died at the age of 82. The statement added, "The family request privacy at this sad time". Perhaps most famous for playing Hercule Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express in 1974, Finney was known to fans for many roles.

Finney appeared and sang in "Scrooge" (1970) and "Annie" (1982), in which he played tycoon Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks.

Finney made his final screen appearance as groundskeeper Kincade in the 2012 James Bond film "Skyfall".

While Henry Winkler remembers Finney as an "actors actor".

Born on May 9, 1936 in Salford, U.K., Finney worked in the industry for a number of years before getting thrust into the global spotlight with his first of five Oscar-nominated roles, the title lead in 1963's Tom Jones. "But I think we should all be misters together".

Albert Finney enjoyed a long, decorated career that spanned decades.

I'll always be personally partial to Finney's humorous and warm turn in Steven Soderbergh's Erin Brockovich, and one of my all-time favorite Finney performances is in Tim Burton's 2003 tearjerker Big Fish.

The Chicago Bulls will be relying a lot on the scoring output from Markkanen the rest of this season alongside Zach LaVine . This season, he's played 41 games and has averaged 12.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

"It seems silly to go over there and beg for an award", he told the paper.

Finney died on February 8, 2019, at 82 years old and he leaves behind a stellar acting career, a surprising net worth, and some one-of-a-kind stories (like when he went sailing for a year right after his breakout role).

Westworld star, and fellow Bond franchise alumnus, Jeffrey Wright called Finney "supreme" and "one of the absolute [greatest of all time]", saying he habitually watched Finney's Oscar-nominated performance in The Dresser before starting a new play.

Finney married Penelope Delmage in 2006 and is survived by her and a son, Simon Finney.

Funeral arrangements for Finney have not been released yet.
