Kristaps Porzingis Expresses Desire to Be Traded

With New Orleans Pelicans' superstar Anthony Davis requesting a trade this week, there could be more big names on the move around the National Basketball Association.

New Orleans Pelicans superstar power forward Anthony Davis has officially requested a trade, as outlined in a statement released by his agent.

It's unclear whether Davis will be dealt ahead of the February 7 trade deadline, but he has already made it clear that he's not signing a max contract with the Pelicans this offseason, and has to go at some point.

The Pelicans are clearly entering a rebuilding stage, as they have also made Julius Randle, Nikola Mirotic and E'Twuan Moore available in trade. There have been two teams most linked to AD: The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports that Lakers team president Magic Johnson and Demps talked on the phone Tuesday about how to proceed in Davis trade talks.

The question is if the Lakers are actually committed to the idea of landing Davis in the next week or not at all. "Boston has been calling New Orleans for the past year-plus on Davis, and has gathered multiple first-round picks and young players to include in a package for him".

The Boston Celtics have been backed to rival the Lakers for Davis, but they can't make a move until the end of the season.

If the 23-29 Pelicans don't deal Davis this season, though, they might still want to keep him in street clothes even when he recovers from his injury.

The Knicks (10-40) have struggled without Porzingis, who was averaging a career-best 22.7 points per game before he injured his left knee during a breakout All-Star season in 2017-18.

Davis can become a free agent in the summer of 2020 and, per ESPN, teams are learning that his plan is to treat any trade destination as a one-year stop - unless that team is the Lakers.

Along those lines, Ainge said he doesn't care about the video LeBron James recently posted on his Instagram that was set to the tune of Fetty Wap's "Rewind" and tagged former teammate Kyrie Irving.
