Huawei prepares to launch 5G-enabled folding phone at MWC

Richard Yu, CEO of the company's Consumer Business Group, said this: "We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona in February, where we will launch the world's first 5G smartphones with foldable screen".

Today is definitely the day for foldable phones and Huawei couldn't miss out.

LetsGoDigital claimed Huawei's foldable device would be available to buy around April or May. So far we have theRoyole FlexPai which is commercially available but a bit clunky, Samsung used a dual screen design and Xiaomi have a tri-fold design. Are you ready to reveal the unprecedented?

It suggests that Samsung will feature its foldable smartphone during its event, where the company is also likely to unveil its Galaxy S10 smartphone.

Let's see what Huawei is going to bring to the table of MWC 2019.

Crucially, though, and another reason why we think that the device in this video could very well be the unannounced Samsung folding phone is that the design, despite getting better, remains fundamentally the same.

2019 is expected to be the year where foldable phones and 5G will be making their debut.

Huawei did not reveal all that much info about its foldable phone, nearly any, but thanks to various trademarks and patents, we do have some info regarding the device, or at least we think we do.

Samsung's launch event takes place on February 20 but it seems the device may arrive in stores on Friday, March 8.

Recently, the company has given a briefing on 5G and has enlightened its new Balong 5000 5G modem and the company's base station hardware. The company had already promised a foldable 5G phone at the MWC event and the teaser image puts a date on it - that is February 24, 2019.

Beyond confirming its existence, Huawei hasn't revealed much else about its debut, ugh, "foldable".
