Galaxy Fold vs Mate X

Galaxy Fold vs Mate X

The main display is 6.6-inches when folded with a more traditional 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 2480 x 1148 resolution, which trumps the Galaxy Fold's 4.6-inch front-facing display. Also, the screen folds effortlessly around the back of the phone using what Huawei refers to as the Falcon Wing design.

Just a few days after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei presents its own foldable smartphone adopting another approach entirely. "On all the benchmarks you can see the performance, the speed is the fastest for 5G in the world", said Richard Yu, head of Huawei's consumer business group.

Entering into the foldable smartphone club, the new Huawei Mate X becomes a tablet in full fledge mode offering much more space than the Samsung competition.

Huawei's foldable, the Mate X, is expected to come out in the middle of the year, but it doesn't have a set release date yet.

Rather than spring a half-baked foldable device on consumers, the company's spending more time exploring new form factors a flexible display could enable, like a phone that bends in half like a stack of cash. When folded, it produces a 4.6-inch display on the exterior, which is when the device can be used like a phone.

Some market analysts pointed out, however, technical superiority does not always lead to success in the market as curved-screen smartphones, like Samsung's Galaxy Round and LG Electronics G Flex, proved. The smartphone changes the display as you fold or unfold the screen and adjust the contents on display accordingly.

Dustin Johnson wows crowd, commentators with massive drive leading to eagle
After a short par putt lipped out at 14 he birdied 15 and 16 as he tried to keep Johnson in his sights. 369 yards to 4 FEET. Our final-round matchup bets start there, as this could be just what Rory needed to finally post a solid Sunday.

The hinges on the two devices are quite different as well.

Under the hood, the Mate X comes with the "world's first" 7nm 5G chipset with the Kirin 980 and Balong 5000. The device, described as a phone-tablet hybrid, has been called an "engineering marvel", providing a foldable tablet sized screen that can be carried around in your pocket. Many model variations were applied for in the patents but one thing that is common is the fact that when folded the screen will remain on the outside.

At the "5G is On" industry insights, Huawei demonstrated the 4K video-on-demand service on its new 5G foldable smartphone via a Vodafone Spain 5G live network powered by the firm.

So, as if we didn't have enough to keep up with when it comes to technology, apparently we now need a folding smartphone. Folded the phone measures in at 11mm, which is considerably better than the Fold's 17mm, but is still a tad bigger than current flagships like the iPhone XS (7.7 mm) and Galaxy S10 (7.8 mm).

Don't forget that, unlike normal phones, the folding screens are not protected by glass: they're plastic. Here, it told eager consumers that the phone will be available in mid-2019 and at the cost of a small second-hand vehicle.
