The home can be seen with scorch marks on its facade and broken windows, among other damage.

The Orange County Fire Authority stated that crews were responding to a fire following reports of a small plane crash, KTLA reported Sunday.

In footage from one of the neighbourhood's residents, loud gun-shot like noises can be heard as bystanders yell out to "move away" from the house which is well engulfed in flames.

The Orange County Coroner is working to positively identify those who died and notify next of kin, the sheriff's office said.

Seventy-two firefighters were deployed to the scene from OCFA and nearby fire departments.

A spokesman with the National Transportation Safety Board says the twin-engine Cessna 414A crashed shortly after taking off from a nearby airport.

The Cessna aircraft took off from Fullerton Municipal Airport in Orange County, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
