Striker keen on joining Chelsea FC this month

A source has confirmed to ESPN FC that Nicolas Higuain - the Argentina forward's brother and agent - has met with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri in London to discuss a transfer.

Higuain joined the Rossoneri with a view to a permanent £32million switch at the end of the season, but Chelsea would be reluctant to spend so much on a player who is already in his thirties.

Morata - who has netted only 16 goals in 47 league appearances since his £60m switch from Real Madrid in 2017 - is linked with a move to Spain with Sevilla apparently keen on the former Real Madrid forward.

The Argentinian striker, now on loan at AC Milan from Juventus, is reportedly a target for Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri and the pair worked together previously at Napoli.

However, Milan sporting director Leonardo warned on Tuesday he had to get down to work. "We haven't received any offer from Chelsea - no one has asked us for him and he didn't ask to leave".

Higuain scored 38 goals across all competitions during his one season under Sarri at Napoli and is a ideal fit for the manager's attacking style of football.

He scored 40 league goals in two seasons for them, but left for Milan in the last close season after Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in Turin.

He will hope to enhance his haul at Chelsea.

The Blues are understood to be in the market for a new striker having resorted to playing Eden Hazard through the middle due to the inconsistent form of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
