Patrick McCaw plans sign Toronto Raptors after Cleveland Cavaliers release

The 23-year-old was most recently waived by the Cavs earlier this week after signing a non-guaranteed 2-year, $6 million deal.

Also at 2 p.m. PT on Wednesday, multiple national reports stated that McCaw plans to sign with the Toronto Raptors.

The deal is reportedly a one-year, veteran's minimum contract.

The Warriors declined to match McCaw's offer sheet almost seven months after rejecting their $1.7 million qualifying offer and two-year, $5.2 million deal, which included a non-guaranteed deal his second year.

On Tuesday, the Warriors reportedly asked the National Basketball Association to review the Cavs' signing and quick release of McCaw. McCaw was under Golden State's control as a restricted free agent. That offer never came, but his wishes did not change, as he rejected Golden State's qualifying offer and a reported offer of two years and $5.2 million.

The NBA is investigating the Cavs for possibility circumventing the salary cap after waiving McCaw.

In any case, McCaw is now a member of the Raptors, who will be back in action on Friday night when they host the Brooklyn Nets (7:30 p.m. ET - Watch on FuboTV with NBA League Pass add-on), which is a great outcome to this whole scenario for him. Golden State could've matched.

However, it was then reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers, now last place in the East, would offer him said deal.

Patrick McCaw seems to have found a new home - for the second time in fewer than two weeks. But McCaw lasted less than 10 days with the Cavs. Fines could range anywhere between $3-6 million as well as the loss of future first-round draft picks, including their top pick in the upcoming 2019 NBA Draft. "But if the National Basketball Association voided McCaw's contract, he could become a restricted free agent again".
