Could Ethan Ampadu be Cesc Fabregas's midfield successor at Chelsea?

Could Ethan Ampadu be Cesc Fabregas's midfield successor at Chelsea?

Chelsea recently announced the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, who was also linked with Liverpool, and the winger has now revealed why he chose to the Blues.

"If Cesc goes, of course we will need a replacement".

Sarri has implemented his possession-based style at Stamford Bridge since arriving from Napoli last summer, with Chelsea completing more passes than any other Premier League side so far this season.

Sarri said he did not think a move to Germany would help Hudson-Odoi because "he is an England player" and has a "very great future here with the national team and with Chelsea". According to reports in the English press, the London club have asked for 10 million euros for the 31-year-old - a figure well below his current market value of 25 million euros. Monaco have a very youthful squad and Fabregas' experience will prove to be crucial in the relegation dogfight.

Sarri claimed the 18-year-old is "ready" for big games and that he can consider Hudson-Odoi on the same level as Willian and Pedro.

Sarri - who said last month that Chelsea's policy of offering only one-year extensions to players over 30 was a sticking point in talks with Fabregas and David Luiz - believes Fabregas should accept a two-and-a-half-year contract at Monaco. He is improving and I am very happy with him.

But BBC Sport pundit Kevin Kilbane has urged Hudson-Odoi to leave Chelsea, suggesting he'll have even less opportunities to play next season. "But I think [moving to Chelsea] would have been my decision either way, as I've wanted this for a long time", he said. "To stay here is better for him".

"(It is) sad for everybody when you lose this kind of player, this kind of person, but I think everybody has to stand up and clap their hands for him - because he deserves it".
