Colorado Rockies: A Thank You to DJ LeMahieu

Colorado Rockies: A Thank You to DJ LeMahieu

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, which cited an unidentified source, the team remains confident they will "end the offseason with either Harper or [Manny] Machado on their roster". The Philly Inquirer has reported that the Phillies prefer the infielder to the outfielder, and by closing in on Harper, Philadelphia is putting pressure on Machado to make his decision soon. Team representatives reportedly met with Harper, his wife Kayla and agent Scott Boras and included "two slideshow presentations", per Nightengale. The Phillies might be willing to overspend on one, but not both. LeMahieu is also as reliable as they get with the glove.

With the Yankees, LeMahieu will get a chance to move all around the infield.

With this signing, the Yankees are likely out of the mix to sign free agent Manny Machado.

Theresa May loses second Brexit vote in two days
The endorsement came as pressure grew on May to rule out a no-deal Brexit if her agreement is rejected by MPs next week. In the month since, little seems to have changed to suggest that she'll win.

The team may have already sent that message after signing Troy Tulowitzki, but some fans still held out hope considering Tulowitzki's low cost and injury history. Jim Thome, special assistant to general manager Rick Hahn said on MLB Network last week that Hahn and vice president Ken Williams are "working hard" and that signing Machado "would be wonderful". His career high home-run total is 15, but is known to be a slap-hitter to the opposite side of the field which could be extremely beneficial for the Yankees moving forward. The Yankees in turn sound committed to him. The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs have shown tepid or no serious interest in Harper, meaning none of them, barring an 11th hour change of heart, appear to be realistic suitors at this stage. However, the Yankees clearly signed him to potentially serve as a placeholder for Gregorius or a reserve infielder.

And now, it seems like a two-horse race for Machado between the White Sox and Phillies.
