Charles Barkley not buying Kyrie Irving's leadership comments

Kevin Love and LeBron James may not longer be on the same team, but by chance the two still happened to be sitting together at dinner when Kyrie Irving surprisingly called LeBron James last weekend to apologize.

According to the story, James returned the call in private and he was actually quite appreciative of Irving's new perspective.

On Wednesday, Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving told reporters that he called LeBron James to apologize for "being that young player" during their time together with the Cleveland Cavaliers that yielded an National Basketball Association title but fell apart when Irving demanded a trade.

Charles Barkley called B.S. on Kyrie Irving's proclamations about leadership.

"LeBron looked down at his phone and he showed us", Love told The Athletic, describing the scene. This season, with high expectations of a repeat of previous year, the team has struggled mightily. But this thing like, "I called LeBron because he taught me to be a leader" - then be a leader.

Last season, he was hurt and watched from the bench as the team made it all the way to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.

He famously broke out of jail twice, including in 2015 when he escaped through a mile-long tunnel that had been dug to his cell. Nieto allegedly reached out to El Chapo, telling him that he "didn't need to stay in hiding" if he handed over the money.

"It came from a place where I asked for a trade and I'm coming here and I believe in this organisation and I want these young guys to be successful", Irving said.

"Going forward, I want to test these young guys but I can't be a bully like that", Irving stated.

He continued: "I feel like we have them talks throughout the season, but it didn't turn out that good". I want to get the best out of them but I can't do it personally of really realizing the magnitude of my voice and what I really mean to these guys.

Kyrie Irving said he will never question his team-mates in public again after the Boston Celtics star's criticism on Saturday.

"And sometimes that can get the best of me at times".

"I think Kyrie went through some of the same struggles that I did", Love said, who was 26 when the Cavaliers acquired him in 2014.
