Police believe a high school footballer in IN stabbed a cheerleader pregnant with his baby to death because it was too late for her to get an abortion.

A 16-year-old high school football player in IN who didn't want to become a father murdered his pregnant cheerleader girlfriend and left her body in a dumpster, police say.

Cops took Trejo to the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit for questioning where he denied seeing Rouhselang the night of her murder for a second time before eventually confessing.

Trejo, 16, told police that he knew Breana Rouhselang, 17, was pregnant and he was "supposed to be the father of the baby", but neither he nor Rouhselang wanted to have the baby, a probable cause affidavit said.

Breana Rouhselang's body was found in a dumpster near her in home on Sunday. She also said her stepdaughter was about six months pregnant when she died.

Following her death, a GoFundMe me was created to help contribute to Rouhselang's funeral expenses.

Her mother called police who discovered the teen's glasses and a stocking cap covered in blood, in the alley, court documents said.

Trejo told police that he then put Rouhselang's body in the dumpster and threw her phone and the knife as far into a nearby river as he could, according to the court document.

Trejo and Rouhselang met at Mishawaka High School in the South Bend suburb of the same name, where Trejo played on the football team and Rouhselang was team manager.

Rouhselang is the 17-year-old whose body was pulled out of a dumpster behind Pasquale Rulli's Restaurant in Mishawaka.

In his confession, he told authorities he chose to use a knife, which he brought from his home, "because he thought it would kill Breana quickly", according to court papers. Trejo was arrested not long after the discovery of Rouhselang's body, police say.

Trejo is now facing charges of murder and feticide in the pregnant teen's killing. Gabby Trozzy, who had classes with Rouhselang, said she "didn't believe" that her classmate had died at first. "I don't understand how somebody could do that like, she was just such an fantastic person her friends, family, she definitely did not deserve this".

"We're just focusing on healing the kids", said Meg Sauer, chief communications officer for the northern IN school district.
