England score favourable draw for Euro 2020 qualifiers

Ireland were beaten int the World Cup play-off, before the two sides played out two scoreless draws in their League B Nations League group.

England were given a seemingly straightforward path to Euro 2020 as they were drawn alongside the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Kosovo for a qualifying campaign that will begin in March. Their neighbours the Republic of Ireland were initially drawn in Group C but were switched due to a rule that prevents more than two host countries competing in any one group.

The draw was incredibly favourable to Ireland who would have been drawn in Group C with Holland and Germany had it not been for a technicality which meant that three host nations can not be in the same group.

Gareth Southgate's men will face the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Kosovo in their five-nation group.

So, instead, McCarthy's team went into Group D, where they will play Denmark yet again.

Northern Ireland are in Group C, along with Germany, Holland, Estonia and Belarus. The Euro 2020 final will be held at London's Wembley Stadium.

The top two teams from each group qualify automatically.

Democrats nominate Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House
Joe Cunningham of SC and Abigail Spanberger of Virginia are among those who said they'd vote against Pelosi on the House floor. Nancy Pelosi is heading into House Democratic leadership elections in an unusual position: She's running unopposed.

Wales will meet Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary and Azerbaijan in Group E while Scotland were drawn against Belgium, Russia, San Marino, Cyprus and Kazakhstan.

"But also we should get excited and should be enjoying these moments". The Azerbaijani capital Baku has group stage and a quarterfinal match in 2020.

World champions France will begin their hunt to claim a second major worldwide tournament in succession by facing Iceland, Turkey, Albania, Moldova and Andorra.

World Cup-winners France face Iceland, Turkey, Albania, Moldova and Andorra in Group H, while Spain are in Group F alongside Sweden, Norway, Romania, Faroe Islands and Malta.

Belgium, FIFA's top-ranked team that reached the World Cup semifinals, will return to Russian Federation in Group I and also face Scotland, Cyprus, Kazakhstan and San Marino.

The winners and runners up from each of the twelve groups will progress to the 24-team tournament.

A further four place will be up for grabs in March 2020, when the UEFA Nations League play-offs will take place, a back-door into the summer showpiece for those who did not make it through the qualifying stages.
