Liverpool vs. Fulham - Football Match Report

After the Fulham striker was adjudged offside by the officials, Liverpool rapidly restarted the match and within the blink of an eye Mohamed Salah had stroked the ball into the back of the visitors net and Liverpool headed into the break in the lead.

Xherdan Shaqiri added the second for Liverpool after the interval to move the Reds top of the Premier League table, albeit perhaps only temporarily with Chelsea and Manchester City also in action on Sunday.

Liverpool are in second place and only two points behind Pep Guardiola's side, following on from their 2-0 victory against Fulham over the weekend.

Ryan Sessegnon was proving suspect defensively for Fulham, but he almost gave them the lead after racing onto Mitrovic's flick on, only to put the ball wide of Alisson's goal from close range after 24 minutes. "My players are onside and scored the goal". It's still hard to tell.

Van Dijk should have scored three against Arsenal last weekend and the Dutch skipper showed off his football skills before the Cottagers game in a reminder that he isn't just a bruising, hulking center-half. It's hard to see for the ref but there's a clear foul on Robbo.

Klopp praised the "brilliant" reactions of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salah that combined to punish Fulham but insisted the offside decision was far from clearcut.

The Premier League's bottom club performed well at Anfield but were incensed when a marginal offside call went against Mitrovic with the game goalless. I'm not sure which Fulham player kept him.

"We can be very positive about that [clean sheet]". But before that somebody had held him.

"That is something we still need to see", said the Dutchman when asked about Liverpool's title credentials.

Although Fulham look like a very poor team at the moment, there are six others of a similarly low standard at the bottom of the table - so you can not write any of them off'.

"In one moment, a crucial moment, instead of 1-0 up we're 1-0 down".

The Egypt worldwide enjoyed a remarkable debut season at Anfield in which he broke the record for most goals in a single Premier League campaign by netting 32 times in just 36 appearances.

"I don't want to say Liverpool didn't deserve to win the game, they created chances and they can score the goal".

"Joe had all the games, we are not sure, we are in talks about that".
