Kylian Mbappé and Neymar suffer injuries ahead of Liverpool clash

Paris St Germain forwards Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are being closely monitored after both suffered injuries on worldwide duty ahead of next week's Champions League clash with Liverpool.

Neymar limped off after just eight minutes of Brazil's 1-0 friendly win against Cameroon on Wednesday.

PSG's night then got even worse as fellow star forward Mbappe picked up what appeared to be a very painful shoulder injury as France took on Uruguay in their friendly at the Stade de France.

A 1v1 challenge with Uruguay goalkeeper Martin Campana felled the 19-year-old Mbappe, and France coach Didier Deschamps did not have a decent prognosis.

Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar explained after the game that it was "not a serious injury", while Neymar reflected this in a post on Instagram. "(He) will need a little more time for a better evaluation, an image exam, but at first it is nothing important".

Both players underwent medical examinations with PSG on Wednesday and the French champions have confirmed Neymar sustained a "right adductor strain", while Mbappe suffered a "bruised right shoulder".

PSG face Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Saturday when Liverpool play Watford.

Everton forward Richarlison scored the only goal of the game just before half time to keep Brazil's ideal record after the World Cup and ensure they end the year on a high.

Group C is finely poised heading into Matchday 5, with Liverpool, PSG and Napoli battling it out for a place in the last-16.
