About 15.8 million Texans are registered to vote in this year's midterm elections, according to the Texas Secretary of State's website. According to Division of Elections spokesperson Samantha Miller, Alaska Law doesn't allow the division to replace a ballot once it's been voted and returned.

With a surge in the number of registered voters, early turnout could reach record numbers.

"The wait times are minimal and you can update your address and do whatever you need to do", she said.

Virginia requires voters to choose from a list of sanctioned reasons to vote absentee-a practice some in the General Assembly have sought to change .

"We have the highest turnout for a single day of early voting in Grayson County", Elections Administrator Deana Patterson estimated.

No excuse is required to cast a vote early. She said both one-stop voting sites - the elections office and the Lida Blalock Meeting Room at the Wilson County Health Department on Glendale Drive - have seen steady traffic.

On Tuesday, the Allegheny County Elections Division urged voters to request absentee ballots as soon as possible to make sure they could be received, filled out and returned in time for the 5 p.m. November 2 deadline. It will not be available on Election Day.

The first towns to offer early voting Monday were Ashburnham, Acton, and Hudson, where people could begin casting ballots at 7 a.m., she said.

In Boston, City Hall will be open for early voting from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. each weekday during the two-week period, with extended hours until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

"Early voting is approaching nearly 30 percent of the total votes cast and it's very popular".

Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe were among 30 counties in Florida to start early voting Monday.

"This ruling protects the people of Georgia from those who seek to undermine their right to vote", Sophia Lakin, staff attorney with the ACLU's Voting Rights Project, added in a statement.

A larger percentage of IL residents vote early in presidential elections, likely because those races historically generate more interest.
