Stormy Daniels' defamation lawsuit against Trump dismissed

Stormy Daniels' defamation lawsuit against Trump dismissed

Grab your popcorn - President Trump and Stormy Daniels are trading biting insults, directly at each other, and as you'd probably expect he started it, she finished with. a d**k joke.

Ms Daniels had argued she had been defamed but on Monday judge S James Otero disagreed, dismissing her lawsuit and ordering her to pay Mr Trump's legal costs.

Trump doesn't have anything on his public schedule today, so he made the most of his executive time by getting on Twitter to gloat over the news - calling Daniels "Horseface," and trashing her "3rd rate lawyer".

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, sued Trump in April after he said a composite sketch of a man she said threatened her in 2011 to keep quiet about an alleged affair with the real estate mogul was a "con job".

He wrote: "The court agrees with Mr Trump's argument because the tweet in question constitutes "rhetorical hyperbole" normally associated with politics and public discourse in the United States".

Mr Trump has denied any relationship with the actress.

Daniels won't get the opportunity to amend her complaint to cure deficiencies, and what's more under Texas' anti-SLAPP statute, she now has to pay Trump's legal costs - perhaps a rubbing of salt in the wound to those who contributed to Daniels' legal defense fund.

The challenge came in response to Avenatti's suggestion last week that he and Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, compete in a mixed martial arts fight.

Trump's lawyer, Charles Harder, said it was a "total victory" for the president.

"Federal Judge throws out Stormy Danials lawsuit versus Trump", the president tweeted.

Daniels is separately suing Trump and Cohen in an attempt to void a 2016 nondisclosure agreement that prevents her from speaking publicly about her alleged affair with Trump.

Avenatti blasted Trump as a "disgusting misogynist" and "an embarrassment to the United States" over his degrading comments toward Daniels.

"Trump's contrary claims are as deceptive as his claims about the inauguration attendance", Avenatti said in a tweet on Monday.

Trump tweeted that the man was "nonexistent" and that Daniels was playing the "fake news media for fools". In a March interview with CBS's "60 Minutes", said she met Trump at a July 2006 golf tournament and had consensual sex with him in his hotel suite.
