Google Assistant gets new look, additional features on mobile devices

The redesigned app includes a bunch of other perks, such as bigger visuals and animations, new controls and sliders to help you manage the smart gadgets in your home, and an interactive messaging interface that will support quick editing.

"Google Assistant" was introduced by the search-engine giant two years ago to allow users to interact with their devices using voice, touch and now, even with the combination of the two.

Google has today unveiled a major visual redesign of its Assistant on phones and has added more and larger visuals to improve the overall Assistant experience, TechCrunch is reporting. Additionally, it is now easier to access an overview of the day on Android smartphones.

And to address some of the things Google said it was bringing to the Assistant at Google I/O back in May, the company has developed a new toolkit for brands and businesses to provide you with richer info like better pics and gifs when it comes to things like menus and recipes.

Google Assistant is free to download from the Google Play Store and iTunes. Once you're in the Assistant (Long press that home button) and swipe up on your screen to see a list of what's happening in your day and recent interactions with the Assistant.

Google is also making it a bit easier for developers to create a seamless path for users to make purchases. The blog post doesn't specifically say whether the update is rolling out or not, but we can assume it's now rolling out on iOS and Android over the coming days. But now, they will also be able to sell digital goods, including one time purchases like upgrades and recurring subscriptions directly within Action.

In order to sync the sale of digital goods directly in the Assistant to sync across various applications, Google has also launched a new sign-in service for the assistant. Additionally, with Google Sign-In users can use their voice to login and link accounts on smart speakers with the Assistant.
