Cuomo Blames Republicans For "Proud Boys" Brawl

Cuomo Blames Republicans For

Cuomo, a Democrat, on Sunday called the invitation to Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes to speak at the Metropolitan Republican Club a "political tactic" to "fire up" the Republican base ahead of the midterm elections. The video shows one of the protesters tossing something at Proud Boys members, who then whale on them, kicking and punching them and calling them "f--ts".

The New York Police Department announced three arrests were made in the wake of a violent brawl Friday night after a speech by Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, a controversial figure on the alt-right, at the city's Republican Club.

The Metropolitan Republican Club's decision to invite the far-right Proud Boys to an event last week may have crossed a risky line that puts America one step closer to embracing fascism, according to historian Robert Paxton.

They asked that anyone who knows any of the men contact the NYPD.

Police Commissioner James O'Neill said Saturday that video of the brawl is being reviewed to determine if additional arrests are warranted. Police didn't immediately make clear if those in custody were affiliated with the Proud Boys or the group of protesters.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information on the fights to come forward, and said it was investigating if the attacks were hate crimes.

But it has rapidly become a vehicle for those firms to express their concerns over Khashoggi's disappearance. Trump also seemed to offer another theory for a crime allegedly carried out at the Saudi diplomatic post .

"You can not be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about", said Clinton during an interview with CNN.

He said he had directed the state police to assist the New York Police Department in a probe of the violence that took place on Friday night between the Proud Boys and those protesting the speech.

Friday night, he brought a sword to his speech at the Republican club and performed a dramatic reenactment of what he described as an "inspiring moment" in history - the assassination of Japanese socialist leader Inejiro Asanuma by a teenage ultra-nationalist. Statewide Republican officials said the damage included smashed windows, a spray-painted door and a keypad lock covered in glue.

During a trip to Israel in 2017, McInnes said that his visit was making him anti-Semitic, that Israelis have a "whiny paranoid fear of Nazis", and that Jews were ultimately responsible for World War II. A note left at the scene said the damage was "just the beginning".

Republicans called on Democrats to denounce the destruction of property.
