The president was also called out for his treatment of another female reporter at the same news conference.

A moment from a Donald Trump press conference has gone viral over what he said to reporter Cecilia Vega attempting to ask a question.

At one point, the president called on ABC News White House reporter Cecilia Vega to ask a question. Trump, who apparently misheard her, then said, "That's OK, I know you're not thinking, you never do". She's in a state of shock. "That's OK, I know you're not thinking, you never do". "I'm sorry?" But the president barged ahead without clarifying what he meant.

Eventually, Trump allowed questions on the matter, which has consumed Washington as the FBI investigates claims of sexual assault levied against Kavanaugh.

He then responded to a question on trade, and she tried once again to bring up the Kavanaugh issue.

Trump eventually came back to Vega's question on Kavanaugh, though not before belittling another female reporter, CNN's Kaitlan Collins, who also attempted to ask about the Kavanaugh investigation.

Trump appeared to misunderstand her.

The deal is being called the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, and will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which has been criticised by Mr Trump as "perhaps the worst trade deal ever made". He has not responded to the criticism in this case.

"What his attractive children are going through is not describable, it's not fair", Trump said. He proceeded to talk over her and cut her off before ultimately calling on another reporter while she was trying to get her question in.

Others said they were going to make an apology in the absence of one from the President.

"There's some frustration that more hasn't been done, more hasn't been done about bump stocks", she said. "I think a lot of people would like to see that, but I think we have to do DACA first".

"I wouldn't mind that at all", Trump said.
