Trump on Kim: Tough talk ... 'and then we fell in love'

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly earlier on Saturday, North Korea's top diplomat said the nation won't dismantle its nuclear weapons until it has "sufficient trust" in the USA, and called on the Trump administration to drop its "coercive methods" such as sanctions.

So far, all three said, speaking on the condition of anonymity, the North has not even agreed to define basic terms such as "denuclearization", "verifiable", and "irreversible".

He warned that if both countries continue to harbor mistrust, the summit's joint statement would suffer the same "fate of failure as all the previous agreements between the two countries".

Trump said at the Saturday night rally in West Virginia: "He wrote me handsome letters and they're great letters".

"Without any trust in the United States, there will be no confidence in our national security and under such circumstances, there is no way we will unilaterally disarm ourselves first", Mr Ri said in a speech to the UN General Assembly in NY.

Seoul says more than 30,000 North Koreans have illegally crossed the border since the end of the Korean War in 1953.

"And then we fell in love - OK?"

United States imposes sanctions on Venezuela's First Lady Cilia Flores
The president's comments come after he blamed Maduro's socialist regime for Venezuela's economic crisis and mass poverty. It is now up to the prosecutor - who didn't immediately comment on the request - to decide what to do next.

Washington is wary of agreeing to a declaration ending the Korean War without Pyongyang first making significant disarmament moves. How awful is that?

"But instead of having 10,000 people outside trying to get into this packed arena, we'd have about 200 people standing there".

Kim had earlier compared comments by Trump to the bark of a "rabid dog", and Trump derided Kim as a "sick puppy" - before the apparent outbreak of puppy love. Mr Trump said in his mock "news anchor" voice.

Earlier Saturday, North Korea's foreign minister said that there was "no way we will denuclearize" without concessions being made by the US.

'I would like to thank Chairman Kim for his courage and for the steps he has taken, though much work remains to be done'.

Chairing a meeting of the UN Security Council just days earlier, Pompeo urged the worldwide community to fully implement all sanctions on the North.

Last year, the Security Council unanimously adopted multiple sanctions resolutions in response to North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile tests to choke off sources of revenue for the regime.
