Tropical wave to dampen Labor Day plans

Tropical wave to dampen Labor Day plans

In the tropics, there is Tropical Storm Florence in the extreme Eastern Atlantic off the coast of Africa.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA- The National Hurricane Center in Miami continues to monitor a tropical wave (yellow X) which is producing a large area of cloudiness and showers from Hispaniola eastward to the Leeward Islands and the adjacent waters.

Tropical Storm Florence is likely to stay out to sea. We are not anticipating any impacts for us, or the USA, but shifts in the forecast track are certainly possible.

The system that requires a closer look is a second tropical wave forecast to push off the African coast around Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. However, the weather service doesnt believe the tropical wave poses a threat to the region because its so disorganized.

Tropical Depression Six has formed in the Atlantic Ocean Friday, just south of the Cabo Verde Islands.

"She's a very hard worker.I think overall I had a little shaky start, but I got into it". Serena Williams doesn't need a superhero suit to show off her skills.

Tropical Storm Florence developed early Saturday, with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour as it tracks west-northwest away from the Cabo Verde Islands at 14 miles per hour. The system has winds of 30kts with gusts to 40kts and is moving W around 13kts.

Avila said there is a 40 percent chance that the wave could form into a depression in the central Gulf of Mexico, sometime after the weekend. That area of strong tropical moisture is moving off to the northwest and its track moves right over south Florida on Monday - Labor Day. Once it reaches the Gulf of Mexico, conditions for intensification could improve.

Tropical activity this storm season has been normal in number of named storms and number of hurricanes. The system is forecast to bring moisture to the Bahamas, Florida and Gulf Coast through the middle of next week.

The name after Florence is Gordon.
