Tesla shares fall after Musk's pot smoke (video) plus exec departure

Musk turned heads with a more than two-hour podcast interview with comedian Joe Rogan in which he drank whisky and appeared to smoke a marijuana-and-tobacco cigarette proffered by the comedian as he mused about artificial intelligence and colonising space. During the podcast interview, Rogan asks Musk about his 1961 Jaguar E-Type, the Boring company and.shares a smoke with Musk.

San Francisco - The turmoil at Tesla reached a fever pitch on Friday as news emerged that two senior executives will leave Elon Musk's electric-vehicle (EV) maker, a matter of hours after he smoked marijuana during an hours-long interview with a comedian.

The ill-fated effort has prompted a USA securities investigation and a class-action lawsuit alleging Musk was trying to punish investors who bet against the company. That beating continued today, in part because of the optics of Musk's late-night, on-camera marijuana use.

Shares of Tesla fell as much as 10% amid the hazy cloud of headlines, marking yet another instance of the controversial Musk giving ammunition to his detractors in the interest of cultivating an offbeat public persona.

Toledano, one of the top executives at the company, reports directly to Musk.

"Although the majority of shareholders I spoke to said they would remain with Tesla if we went private, the sentiment, in a nutshell, was 'please don't do this, '" Musk wrote in a Tesla blog post.

The negative press Musk has received since his tweet last month about potentially taking the company private likely has some investors concerned about the executive's responsibilities.

This team has always followed his lead, so when his focus is clearly on one thing, you can bet the players are of a like mind. In Week 3 a year ago , Brady totaled 378 passing yards and five passing touchdowns in one of his best games of the season.

Jerome Guillen, who was responsible for overseeing Tesla's engineering and sales operations, was elevated to the new position of president of automotive operations, while Kevin Kassekert, who had been vice-president of infrastructure development, was appointed as vice-president of people and places, replacing Ms Toledano, who told Bloomberg on Friday she would not return from a leave of absence.

Musk admitted that an electric plane is not a priority at this time however.

Following Musk's "funding secured", tweet on August 7, Morton walked the erratic billionaire through the pitfalls of taking Tesla.

A lawsuit filed Thursday accused Musk of trying to burn short-sellers (those betting that Tesla's share price would decrease) in the market.

"This caused me to reconsider my future", Morton said.

The executive has had a few tough months in the news, culminating in a failed attempt to take Tesla public that led to a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation.

All these antics have led many business observers to call for Tesla's board to get help for Musk and relieve him of some of his responsibilities.

Musk in recent days also renewed a feud with a British cave diver, Vernon Unsworth, who was involved in the rescue of 12 boys trapped in an underwater cave in Thailand this summer, according to the BBC.
