Canelo vs. Golovkin 2 - "The REMATCH"

Canelo vs. Golovkin 2 -

The middleweight rematch the world has been waiting for is set to launch BT Sport's new pay-per-view channel, BT Sport Box Office, in spectacular style.

First there was grumbling over Alvarez's performance in the first fight held a year ago that ended in an unsatisfying draw.

The bad blood between the pair has grown since Alvarez was temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission in April for testing positive for the banned substance clenbuterol, forcing a postponement of their planned May 5 rematch. Despite the draw, Golovkin retained his WBA (Super), WBC, and IBO middleweight titles. Some thought Alvarez shied away from a physical brawl with Golovkin that betrayed the warrior reputation that Mexican fighters and fans embrace. "I defeated the weigh-in, and now it's time to defeat him [Saturday] night".

A rematch between Canelo and Golovkin was subsequently agreed that would have seen the two foes face off on May 5th in a fight perfectly poised to light up boxing's fabled Cinco de Mayo weekend.

The 2004 Olympic silver medallist, (38-0-1, 34 knockouts), has repeatedly accused his Mexican opponent of doping, raising the temperature in Las Vegas this week by voicing his suspicions again.

"He's promised the fans he's going to knock him out, but in order to do that you have to be in range", Sanchez said.

Members of both entourages quickly got between the two fighters to head off a physical confrontation after Alvarez appeared to rush towards Golovkin, who didn't flinch.

Canelo Alvarez (left) may not be capable of finishing off Gennady Golovkin, but the champion's camp is careful that a clean, lucky punch could result in an upset.

Reality Check: Is President Trump’s Puerto Rico Tweet Accurate?
Earlier this week, Donald Trump declared his administration's response to Hurricane Maria an " incredible, unsung success ". In January, Cora led a Red Sox delegation to Puerto Rico to distribute aid. "Those are just the facts of what happened".

The South Point sportsbook in Las Vegas said it was seeing good action on both fighters and bumped up its price on Golovkin to -150.

"I know it's going to be a tough fight", Alvarez said.

"I just want him (Alvarez) to do what he says he will do and try for a knockout", said Golovkin's trainer, Abel Sanchez. He and Alvarez have shared a room only once since the fight was announced - at Wednesday's final prefight press conference - and Alvarez is so upset about Golovkin's comments that he refused to do a traditional faceoff with Triple G for photographers.

"He's promised the fans he's going to knock him out but in order to do that you have to be in range and then it gets unsafe", Sanchez said.

"If he does that we'll be treated to a great fight".

But both fighters say they are happy with the judges for the rematch, and doubt they will come into play anyway. "Like a real war". "Every night before bed I visualize what I'm going to do, which is to get a knockout".

"The error I made was there were some spots in the first fight where he was vulnerable and I didn't take advantage".
