Wisconsin's 5-day sales tax holiday begins

Wisconsin's 5-day sales tax holiday begins

School supplies are tax-free as long as each item is under $75.

According to the Florida Department of Revenue, Florida's tax holiday will begin this Friday and continue through Sunday.

This year, the state's Back to School Sales Tax Holiday runs from 12:01 a.m. August 3 to midnight August 5 - that's this Friday through Sunday! Stocking up on new clothing, computers, electronics and even basic school supplies can swiftly add up, with household spending for children in grades K-12 expected to reach almost $28 billion nationwide this year, according to a recent Deloitte survey.

However, if the customer returns the item after the "sales tax holiday" and receives credit on the purchase of a different item, the sales or use tax will apply to the sale of the newly purchased item.

"Due to sound fiscal management and a strong economy, the state had nearly a $400 million budget surplus", said Department of Revenue Secretary Richard Chandler in a statement last week.

CR7 effect: Juventus season tickets sell out after Cristiano Ronaldo arrival
Ronaldo shocked the football world earlier this month when he swapped Real Madrid for Juventus in a £99million move. Speaking at his press conference, the five time Ballon d'Or victor said, "I am not sad to leave Real Madrid ".

But all three of Louisiana's neighbors have back-to-school holidays in place this year.

There is a spending limit to get the tax exemption.

People may wait to make large item purchases and increase sales during the tax exempt period, though Wisconsin's holiday limits this significantly.

The sales tax was waived on purchases of clothing and school supplies of less than one-hundred dollars and on computers less than 15-hundred dollars. "It definitely helps with traffic and sales, having the tax free, everybody likes that savings", explained Pinson. Another tip: Hollenbeck says look for discounts and coupon availability on certain items. "So, you can definitely save more this weekend".

Davis' bill, which was created to replace part of a temporary one-cent sales tax that expired June 30 and avoid a budget crisis, will expire on June 30, 2025.
