Trump corners Robert Mueller over "Witch Hunt" probe

Trump corners Robert Mueller over

Trump tweeted on Tuesday that "collusion is not a crime", echoing his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, who made the claim on Monday morning.

Trump and Giuliani's stance has moved from there was "no collusion" to "collusion is not a crime" after the U.S. President's former lawyer Michael Cohen alleged that then candidate Trump knew about a meeting between his son and a Russian lawyer at the Trump Tower in NY.

The president - along with allies in conservative media - has launched a long PR campaign against the Mueller probe, which he claims is biased and pursuing erroneous claims of collusion between his campaign team and Moscow.

The investigation also has exposed Moscow's aggressive outreach to the Trump campaign, including a promise of "dirt" on Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in a meeting attended by Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr.

Mueller is investigating whether Trump campaign officials worked with Moscow to try to sway the 2016 USA presidential election, something commonly referred to as collusion by the media and public officials.

"Collusion is not a crime", Giuliani said during a separate interview on Fox and Friends.

This comes despite legal experts saying that anyone found to be colluding with Russian Federation will be liable to be charged with criminal offenses such as conspiracy. "Nobody. They should make the decisions about their lives based on the fact that they've got to deal with whatever the government is offering them or not offering them, how honest or dishonest they want to be", the lawyer continued.

Brett Gouvea, incident commander of the crews battling the fire, urged residents to pay close attention to the blaze. The state of California is dealing with several wildfires that have consumed buildings and forced evacuations.

A knowledgeable source told NBC News that Cohen is willing to inform Mueller that Trump Jr. told his father about the meeting, contradicting Trump Jr.'s congressional testimony in May 2017.

Host Alisyn Camerota asked why it was up to Mueller to support the president's tweet. "The President didn't hack", Giuliani told CNN.

"Enough is enough, ' Giuliani vented".

Democrats on Capitol Hill criticized Trump and his lawyers for their shifting assertions. He nearly still does. "I'm sure they are in bad faith about an interview at this point". 'I can't tell you, ' he siad.

The message marked the first time Mr Trump publicly elaborated on prior vague claims of conflicts of interest.

Trump has denied that the campaign worked with Russian Federation to engineer his victory against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and bristles at the suggestion he might owe his White House victory to Moscow. "Including the fact that we had a very nasty & contentious business relationship, I turned him down to head the Federal Bureau of Investigation (one day before appointment as S.C.) & Comey is his close friend". Trump has also asserted he didn't know about the meeting. Last week, CNN aired the audio of one of the recordings, which features then-presidential candidate Trump discussing with Cohen how they would buy the rights to a Playboy model's story about an alleged affair Trump had with her years earlier. 'Sounds suspicious, doesn't it?' he added.
