The True Detective Season 3 Trailer is Here

The 60-second trailer is short on details, but shows Ali's detective Wayne Hays at three distinct periods in his life, and appears to be consumed by a mystery that continues to haunt him throughout his life.

The first trailer for the long-awaited third season of HBO's True Detective has been unveiled.

Created by Nic Pizzolatto, who also serves as showrunner and writer, True Detective stars Mahershala Ali, Mamie Gummer, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, Carmen Ejogo, and Ray Fisher. "That wasn't a fear for me", Hays says in the trailer's voiceover. "I want to know the whole story".

After its groundbreaking freshman season, which starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Louisiana State Police homicide detectives who followed a serial killer for 17 years, True Detective had a lot to prove with its second turn.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Demo Revealed
It was a pretty meaty demo that impressed everyone in attendance , and we now get to witness the same gameplay for ourselves. Gamers were quick to speculate that the code could potentially be an upload of the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo files.

It's hard to make much of what we're seeing in this first look, which debuted ahead of the Sharp Objects season finale.

According to HBO, True Detective Season 3 "tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods". Daniel Sackheim directs alongside Daniel Sackheim, with Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier having helmed the first two episodes. Pizzolatto is the sole writer of the third season with the exception of Episode 4, which he co-wrote with David Milch.

Season 3 of True Detective will air on HBO sometime in January of 2019.
