Peter Strzok Fired FBI Agent Who Sent Trump-Critical Texts

After leaving Mueller's investigation, Strzok was reassigned to human resources but was still employed by the bureau.

Strzok was removed from Mueller's team last summer after anti-Trump text messages between Strzok and former F.B.I. lawyer Lisa Page were made public.

Democrats accused Republicans of trying to divert attention from Mueller's investigation and Trump's ties to Russian Federation by excessively focusing on Strzok.

Aitan Goelman, Strzok's attorney, said the 21-year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation was sacked by FBI deputy director David Bowdich on Friday.

Goelman said the move undercuts the FBI's assurances that Strzok would go through the normal disciplinary process.

Goelman said in a statement Monday that Strzok was sacked because of political pressure and "to punish Special Agent Strzok for political speech protected by the First Amendment".

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz released a report earlier this year that fiercely criticized Strzok for his conduct, saying he displayed a "biased state of mind" during a key phase of the Clinton email probe.

Strzok became the face of everything Mr. Trump and his allies viewed as problematic with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, after the revelation that he and onetime fellow Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Lisa Page exchanged anti-Trump text messages.

For one final flourish, Woods sank a 19-foot putt for a birdie that got him to 14 under and pumped his fist to celebrate. He followed by blocking his drive on 17 to the right of a creek that skirts the right-hand side of the par-5 hole.

In one instance of bias, Horowitz cited this text exchange between Strzok and Page on August 8, 2016. "No he won't. We'll stop it".

It is not clear why Strzok, who was formally fired Friday, was dismissed at this time.

The delays were merely the "result of bureaucratic snafus", Strzok's lawyer wrote last month in USA Today.

Page questioned whether Trump would become president. Horowitz said he didn't have concrete evidence that Strzok's bias impacted the outcome of the Clinton investigation.

The president also said his firing should mean that the probe into Hillary Clinton's email server - which Strzok oversaw - should be reopened. He is the second senior FBI agent to be fired as a result of the inspector general's investigation.

The firing was politically motivated, McCabe has said, as an effort to discredit him as a witness in the special counsel investigation.

"Russian Collusion with the Trump Campaign, one of the most successful in history, is a TOTAL HOAX".
