Liverpool could see £60m target hijacked by Chelsea or Manchester United

Salah, who hit 32 Premier League goals last term - a record for a 38-game season, curled in his unstoppable top-corner effort just before the hour.

Liverpool finished fourth last season and reached the final of the Champions League where they were beaten by Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho and Manchester United also come under the spotlight after a turbulent pre-season while Maurizio Sarri's potential impact at Chelsea is also up for debate.

"I can imagine you want to hear about that, he's an outstanding talent, outstanding", Klopp told Liverpool's official website after the game at the Aviva Stadium.

The Scot added: "From day one he settled in quite quickly".

It was a very bold claim, and one which the whole of the footballing world will not forget in a hurry.

Liverpool were, on Monday, been handed a major boost ahead of the 2018/19 Premier League with Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren taking part in his first training session with the club.

But Sarri indicated his desire to keep his best players at the club ahead for the new season. When asked whether the whole situation was odd , he added, " I think so ".

And, of course, his comments in the World Cup were always going to be brought up.

Commenting on his relationship with them, Klopp said: "Absolutely, the relationship with the owners is strong".

"He was with us in the Champions League final, and two years ago in the Europa League final".

"He was very comfortable on the ball five minutes in and it meant we could show for it and he was starting most of our play, so it was a very good performance from him, but overall the squad performed very well today".

"He has played a really good World Cup but to do it consistency is the main thing".

We like working together - Mike Gordon, (sporting director) Michael Edwards and myself.

"Playing against Napoli, it was the strongest side we played so far, 100 percent - they had almost a full squad here and it can look completely different".
