Trump blames Obama for alleged Russia's meddling in US election

But the president appeared to again go full circle on the issue in a tweet Sunday night in which he questioned why Obama didn't take action against Russian Federation in 2016 if the US government was aware of it and calling it out as a "big hoax".

It added that "Page has established relationships with Russian Government officials, including Russian intelligence officers".

On heels of obtaining a copy of the FBI's application for permission to spy on former Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page, Washington watchdog Judicial Watch now is asking for copies of transcripts of hearings related to the surveillance.

Page's appearance on "State of the Union" came a day after the Justice Department released a heavily redacted version of the Foreign Intelligence Security Act application the Federal Bureau of Investigation used to spy on him.

"It was a solid application and renewals signed by four different judges, appointed by three different Republican presidents", said Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

The surveillance of Page became a contentious matter between Republican and Democratic lawmakers earlier this year. Trump tweeted about the release of the documents early Sunday morning from Bedminster, New Jersey, where he is spending the weekend.

"A disgrace to America", Trump's tweet continued, referring to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Tapper questioned Page over the scope of the allegations against him, noting that judges who operate under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act agreed probable cause existed for the wiretapping.

"Congratulations to @JudicialWatch and @TomFitton on being successful in getting the Carter Page FISA documents", he tweeted.

President Donald Trump continues to deny any collaboration with the Russian government.

"Looking more and more like the Trump Campaign for President was illegally being spied upon (surveillance) for the political gain of Crooked Hillary Clinton and the DNC".

At a joint news conference with the Russian leader, Trump said he had no reason to believe that Russia would have interfered in the 2016 USA presidential election, contradicting the consensus of the U.S. intelligence community; he later said he misspoke.

In other words, Pelosi is arguing that Carter Page, who has still not been charged with anything, is guilty because of a warrant request based on a dossier bought and paid for by a political campaign in an attempt to dig up dirt on a political opponent.

"I don't think they did anything wrong", he said. Page has vehemently denied the dossier's allegations, and says he has never spoken to Manafort.

Alleged Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election, in which Trump won by electoral college but lost to Clinton by nearly four million popular votes, led to the set-up of the special panel headed by Robert Mueller. "What I think is indisputable is that they did interfere and they will do so in the future", Rubio said.

Mr Page is an energy industry consultant with longstanding ties to Russian Federation. FISA applications include matters that by their very nature implicate sources and methods of intelligence gathering, and anyone who has worked in this field knows that even discussing the existence of a FISA warrant is forbidden.
