Croatian President 'Can't Wait' for World Cup Final

Croatia sealed their route into the final through an extra time victory over England, a win Modric himself insisted was fuelled by the English press underestimating his side's ability ahead of the semi-final.

Croatia's long periods of possession were largely unproductive, the final pass was invariably missing and they were surprised by Russia's aggressive approach.

"It means everything. It's a dream come true for us, and all of Croatia", he said.

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, who was elected as the president of the country in 2015, and at this World Cup, her presence and support to the national football team has won several hearts.

"We showed that we were the better team in all segments of the game".

However, FIFA says the sentence is not final because the former Dinamo Zagreb director general is appealing to a higher court.

Fighting for the chance to take on France in the final, England scored yet another set piece goal just minutes into the match.

Southgate added: "I thought Stones was absolutely outstanding and [goalkeeper Jordan] Pickford has had a wonderful tournament". Meanwhile, England head into the game following a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in the semi-final encounter played on Wednesday.

Much had been made about Croatia's energy levels going into the match with pundits noting that having played extra time in all of their knock-out games, the Croatians would be exhausted.

"We will not stop, we will try to play to get the best out of ourselves".

Croatia defender Dejan Lovren said Modric deserves to win the Ballon d'Or if they win Sunday's final, describing his team-mate as the "best midfield player in the world".

"The lads can come away from this tournament and be proud of what they've done, but at the end we did come up a little bit short".

He spent nearly two years out of worldwide football following Russia's group stage exit from the 2016 European Championship but made a surprise return to the national squad in May.

England were able to defeat Sweden 2-0 and will now go on to face Croatia, who eliminated the hosts Russian Federation on penalties.
