Croatia coach says team has top players in world

Belgium doesn't boast the decorated history of its semi-final opponent, but this golden generation bursting with talent gives the Red Devils a real chance of winning its first worldwide tournament.

Two fascinating FIFA World Cup semi-finals lie in wait, with France taking on Belgium on Wednesday (AEST), before England takes on Croatia the next day.

"I don't know what to say in response", he said at a news conference.

Thousands of supporters in Russian Federation and millions at home will watch nervously as the team face Croatia for the right to play in Sunday's final - and potentially end 52 years without a major trophy. We could have been eliminated against Denmark [in the round-of-16 tie they won on penalties].

The Paris St Germain forward scored his first goal with a close-range tap-in after 34 minutes, which proved enough to give Didier Deschamps' side victory at the Central Stadium.

Croatia, on the other hand, find themselves reaping the rewards - at long last - of a golden generation of players, who for so long teased with potential and promise, but never made good on their proverbial "dark-horse" status at major tournaments.

"He deserves all the accolades he gets from the media and public. They work hard for each other and there are no big superstars".

Last night a potential World Cup final showdown with the French was set up after Les Bleus beat Belgium 1-0 in the first semi-final.

Theresa May's Cabinet in crisis as David Davis resigns over Brexit plan
It was reported that the former prime minister David Cameron had been drafted in before the meeting to urge him not to resign. She will say: "Over that time, I have listened to every possible idea and every possible version of Brexit".

There is little prospect that they would have come this far without Modric, who as a boy was forced to flee his village home after his grandfather was killed by Serb forces in the Croatian independence war.

Asked what similarities Modric and the current crop have in common with the side he played in, Suker replied: "Quality".

Modric has been on the front line in painful past failures for the national team, missing a penalty in a shootout as Croatia lost to Turkey in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008. 'To be fair, we've had some good sportsmen like [Goran] Ivanisevic in tennis, he won Wimbledon, basketball is huge and we were good.

The biggest question mark now surrounds the fitness of a team who have gone the full distance in their last two matches and had several players struggling with injuries against Russian Federation.

A taxi driver has accused England fans of ruining his livelihood and described them as "animals" after they destroyed his cab following Saturday's win.

"He can be unsafe for us but we are going to try and stop him from playing".

"1998 will never be forgotten and should not be, but I would love it if eventually the 1998 "Fiery Ones" can be moved aside so that we can talk not only about 1998 but also a bit about 2018", the former Real Madrid player said.
