Barcelona announce signing of Bordeaux winger Malcom

The club tweeted: "AS Roma can confirm that the club has reached an agreement with FC Girondins de Bordeaux for the transfer of Malcom, subject to the player completing a medical and agreeing personal terms".

Malcom was extremely close to signing for Roma in a €32m+€4m deal but at the last moment Barcelona made a bid to secure the winger's signature. The 21-year-old will sign with Barca for the next five seasons until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Roma have moved to quickly put the disappointment of missing out on Malcom behind them, announcing the arrival of Sweden global goalkeeper Robin Olsen for an initial €8.5m fee.

Barcelona appear to have won the race to sign Malcom from Bordeaux, pipping Roma to his signature at the last minute.

Malcom will arrive in Barcelona on Tuesday and will have the traditional photo taken by the Club badge outside the Club offices at 7.30pm CEST.

His signing leaves Ernesto Valverde's side well stocked across the forward line with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and now Malcom all competing for a place in the attack.

He will now, though, become Barcelona's second major signing of the summer window following the arrival of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla .
