United Kingdom police investigating cause of

Two people have been taken to hospital after reports of a "minor" explosion at Southgate Tube station. "We are not aware of any serious injury".

British Transport Police (BTP) initially tweeted Southgate Tube station was closed "whilst officers respond to a suspicious package".

As police's investigations continue, parts of the Piccadilly line have been closed while trains are now not stopping at Southgate due to concerns following the incident.

A small number of people have been treated at the scene by @Ldn_Ambulance.

A Twitter user with the handle @nakzokulah posted: "I was at Southgate Station when this commotion started".

Specialist officers said the cause of the explosion appeared to be a battery short circuit. Suspect device found/gone off inside tube.

At least five people have been injured after an explosion at an underground train station in north London. "Saw one person coming out on a stretcher". Cordons are in place and the station is closed. "There must be around 50 or 60 police, an ambulance, fire arms and dog units".

"Investigations are ongoing, but the incident is not being treated as suspicious or terror related".

"Officers are on scene alongside @metpoliceuk".
