Police release bodycam video showing officer punching woman on New Jersey beach

As the officer approaches Weinman, she repeatedly yells "don't touch me". In a since-deleted Facebook post, Weinman admitted to having beer on her but claimed that she wasn't drinking. Emily had a beer next to her but passed a breathalyzer test before the officers tackled her.

"She tried kicking at us, so I slammed her on the ground", the officer later tells his supervisor, after the woman has been tackled, handcuffed and shoved into the back of a police vehicle. Weinman, meanwhile, was slapped with a bevy of charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and underage possession of alcohol. The three officers involved in the altercation have been reassigned to administrative duty, pending the investigation.

Her attorney, Stephen Dicht, says the body cam video shows "excessive force and overreaction" by police, telling FOX 29, "It's all the same to me", when comparing the viral witness video with the footage released by police. "Look I don't care who you are and what you are, the worst people [to try to subdue] are women".

Troiano told Philly.com that Weinman "chose to attack the officer, spit on the officer". The department says the delay in releasing the body camera footage was the result of the time it took to hide the identities of juveniles and other citizens in the video. As an officer places handcuffs on her, she can be seen in the video spitting at him.

New Jersey police released body cam footage on Wednesday that shows the violent arrest of 20-year-old Emily Weinman on a beach in New Jersey over Memorial Day Weekend.

"That's it", the officer says and begins to punch her multiple times in the head. "I didn't see her put her hands behind her back. I didn't take a drink of anything", she can be heard saying in the video. "At that point, the police officer did what he had to do", Troiano said.

"She wouldn't give me her last name", the officer said.

Wildwood's mayor defended the officers, saying that they did what they had to do.

The officer asked Weinman for her name, which she refused to give, according to the post. She started kicking at us so I slammed her on the ground. "I was partly wrong in a way but I was scared".

An officer tells her she has one last chance to provide her identification. He says, "She tried walking away from me, so I grabbed her". "I think we could have done a better job at trying to explain to her, but it didn't appear Ms. Weinman wanted to hear what we had to say".

"You have a young lady who was out of control".
