Norwegian lawmakers nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize World News

Donald Trump, who on Tuesday became the first sitting USA president to meet with a North Korean leader, has been nominated as a candidate for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.

Four U.S. presidents have won the Nobel Peace Prize: Barack Obama in 2009, Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, Woodrow Wilson in 1919 and Jimmy Carter in 2002.

The process of considering candidates for the honour is carried out in Norway, and nominations must be sent to the Nobel committee before February. They added that their nomination for Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize would send a clear signal to the USA and world to finish what was started. "This president is actually going to earn it".

Kim backed off in response to Trump's multiple demonstrations of US military power and resolve, and his toughening of economic sanctions against North Korea.

The nomination process for this year's prize ended in January, and it's unclear if Trump is in the running.

For two consecutive years, in 2016 and 2017, the candidacy of trump offered the same United States citizen.

ZTE must also replace its existing board of director, management senior leadership roles within 30 days, who will be selected by the BIS.

Past winners include former USA president Barack Obama and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

"We will of course follow the development closely, but the fact that we have come this far is, in my opinion, worthy of a peace prize", he said.

He was the second oldest person to assume the USA presidency when he took office in 2017.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde and Per-Willy Amundsen, lawmakers with the populist Progress Party, made the nomination. This year, it was nominated for a record number of 330 people.

The committee's secretary, Olav Njoelstad, said "it is not impossible" for someone who has been criticised by committee members to be considered, and even win, the prize.

During the phone talks, Moon said Trump had achieved a great success in the summit, laying the foundation for peace not only on the Korean Peninsula but in the entire world.
