England's Harry Kane wants to be 'best in the world'

England's Harry Kane wants to be 'best in the world'

Kane opened the scoring after 11 minutes following a spectacular save from Mouez Hassen after John Stones' effort.

Leading the way was the BBC's football anchor Gary Lineker who was heard to let out a roar in the studio after Harry Kane's late header.

Kane's two goals in the Volgograd Arena took his overall England tally to 15 in 25 appearances, with 10 of those coming in eight games under Southgate.

Players still had to cover themselves with bug spray before the game and at halftime, but that seemed to have little effect. Had Germany/Brazil controlled a game like that we would have been purring.

"Maybe tonight we could have run out of time".

That was exactly what England did, but they needed Kane to be at his predatory best.

"I want to prove a point in major tournaments".

In a tweet, the UN's envoy to Yemen , Martin Griffiths, called on both sides to end the fighting and find a negotiated settlement. The Houthis, from a Shi'ite minority, say they took power through a popular revolt and are defending Yemen from invasion.

Instead the Tunisians were just hoping to earn a draw and a shot at the second round with a win over Panama on the last day of Group G play.

"It's a massive boost, a massive bonus, we kept going".

England fan Scott Fraser was watching the game at Walkabout in Sheffield last night and caught the incredible scenes of celebration after the full-time whistle.

"I did not feel the midges because I was so focused on the team, on the game", Tunisia's Nabil Maaloul said. We've got Marcus Rashford, Raheem, Dele, Ruben (Loftus-Cheek), they've had fine seasons, Jesse has as well and Vards (Jamie Vardy).

Russian media said authorities used planes in the months before the game to spray the area around the stadium, which is next to the massive Volga river, with a special substance created to kill off the bugs.

Harry Kane's late victor for England sparked jubilant celebrations in Maidstone.

But Morgan still insisted the performance was "less than exceptional" and said admitting it was a "lucky win" would be a "more honest critique".
