England smokes Panama behind Kane

England smokes Panama behind Kane

Not since the 4-2 victory over Germany in the 1966 final has England scored as many goals at the World Cup.

The BBC announced on Monday that 14.1m watched on BBC One - an audience share of 82.9 per cent - and there were 2.8m live stream requests across BBC online.

Kane became the third England player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup game following Geoff Hurst in the1966 final and Gary Lineker against Poland in the 1986 tournament.

After a frantic first half many people were wondering if England could win by the biggest margin at a World Cup.

Lingard added the third in the 36th minute with a brilliant curling effort from 25 yards and, as Panama crumbled, Stones crowned a slick set-piece routine by heading his second and Kane made it 5-0 before half-time with another penalty after he was wrestled to the ground.

As soon as the match was over, Panama's players gathered in the middle of the field, knelt and hugged each other while they prayed. Those figures do not include the audience for the build-up and post-match coverage.

Gareth Southgate's side were on course for a record-breaking victory.

Manchester City's John Stones opened the scoring from a corner kick taken by Trippier.

"The difference of goals could have been more", Gomez said, as quoted by Sky Sports News.

FPJ's dream XI predictions for Poland and Colombia
The win for Colombia sees them on three points in Group H, placed third behind Japan and Senegal, who have four points each. It said: "Hola mi Hermano James Rodriguez , I remember your great goals during the last World Cup ".

Considering the Three Lions have managed to put away five goals at the last two World Cups combined, Sunday afternoon's rout of Panama has sent the nation wild.

Colombia welcomed James Rodriguez to their starting XI and the playmaker provided the assist for two goals while captain Radamel Falcao scored his maiden World Cup goal. "Then we had to go right to the wire and show qualities that are going to be really important to our resilience and sticking to our principles of play".

"England are an unknown quantity with no real outstanding players apart from Harry Kane", he says. The most important thing is winning games, and if my goals help my team win then that's the flawless situation. "But despite that fact, we led twice and what's annoying for me is the two goals we conceded". "England is totally spectacular, a attractive team", said Panama coach Hernan Dario Gomez, who went into the England dressing room at halftime to congratulate his counterpart Southgate.

This is Panama's first World Cup and its first goal was against England, the inventor of the game.

Head coach Gomez went to Southgate's dugout before a second half that started at a far calmer tempo - not that the pain would stop for Panama.

"That's his decision, I guess, but obviously I want to play".

Jon Stones earned his first global goal after heading home Kieran Trippier's early corner. "But as I've said before, sometimes you go through spells where you score a lot and spells where you don't".

The domination secured England's spot in the knockout stages of the competition and, at least for the moment, landed them at the top of their cluster ahead of Belgium. There's an opportunity as well that players that need a match, but also we want to keep winning football matches. "For such a young captain Harry Kane is so vocal and I think everyone respects him massively in the team", he said.

Rose came off the bench with England 6-0 up over Panama for the final 20 minutes of the game, with the match he already won.
