Donald Trump says Russian Federation should be be allowed to rejoin G7

Russia's President Vladimir Putin looks on as China's President Xi Jinping points during Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China June 10, 2018.

"I believe it's necessary to stop this creative babbling and shift to concrete issues related to real cooperation", Putin told reporters in the Chinese city of Qingdao, when asked to comment on a G7 joint statement.

Russia was ousted from the elite group in 2014 as punishment for Vladimir Putin's annexation of Crimea, and its support for pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine.

On Friday, Trump shocked USA allies by calling for Russian Federation to be readmitted to the Group of Seven wealthy industrialized nations.

The Russian President stated that USA leader Donald Trump in their latest conversation expressed concern about a new round of the arms race.

Putin also said they discussed Iran but didn't provide details.

And he went on to further warn that the United States, under Mr Trump's presidency, now posed the biggest challenge to West's continued leadership on the global stage.

Mr. Trump's stunning remarks on Russian Federation added to already fraught talks at the G7 and leave him more isolated.

Trump was set to arrive Friday at the annual gathering, held this year at a Quebec resort, but will leave Saturday morning before it is even over to fly to Singapore for his highly anticipated summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The bloc includes China, Russia, four ex-Soviet Central Asian nations, India and Pakistan.

In a symbol of close China-Russia ties, Xi on Friday gave China's first friendship medal to Putin.

China is now locked in an ongoing trade dispute with the United States, which has also imposed tough sanctions on Russian Federation.

Russian Federation should participate in the G-7 talks, US President Donald Trump said at the end of the summit in Canada, Reuters reported.

He said: "Naturally we cannot force the U.S. to change their minds".

Trump's rejection of the global climate accord and Iran nuclear deal, supported by the European Union and Canada is going to be another flashpoint in the increasingly acrimonious relationship between Washington and its Western allies.

With the president of aspiring full member Iran looking on, Putin said Moscow still supports the Iran nuclear deal that Trump recently abandoned.

Earlier on Sunday, Putin criticised the USA withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal in a speech at the summit.
