Dinesh D'Souza, Pardoned by Trump, Claims Victory Over Obama Administration

Preet Bharara, who was USA attorney for the southern district of NY at the time, wrote on Twitter, "The President has the right to pardon but the facts are these: D'Souza intentionally broke the law, voluntarily pled guilty, apologized for his conduct & the judge found no unfairness".

"Stone, a longtime associate of Trump's, told the Washington Post that the message was clear: "Indict people for crimes that don't pertain to Russian collusion and this is what could happen".

"And he's a powerful voice for freedom, systematically dismantling the lies of the Left-which is why they hate him", Cruz wrote.

Trump has issued five pardons as president. Stone has claimed that the counsel is investigating his personal life and business affairs because he has no evidence of collusion.

"Look, there are plenty of people the president is looking at right now under the pardon process", he said.

President Trump announced on Twitter Thursday that he'll give a full pardon to conservative author and documentary filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza, who pleaded guilty in 2014 to a campaign finance violation.

D'Souza pleaded guilty in 2014 to a straw-donor scheme created to benefit New York Republican candidate Wendy Long, who was trying to oust Democratic Sen.

Last week the president posthumously pardoned Jack Johnson, an African-American heavyweight boxing champion who was convicted of transporting a white woman - his future wife - across state lines.

This time there was a little rust to shake off - she only gave birth in September - and she didn't quite move as when at her best. After beating Williams in the 2016 final, Muguruza's title defense was ended in the fourth round a year ago .

Trump said he only knew D'Souza from TV and reading his works. The prosecutor in the case, U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan, was an Obama appointee.

D'Souza pleaded guilty. He "admitted that he knew that what he was doing was wrong and something the law forbids", the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of NY said in a statement.

Talking to reporters on board Air Force One, Trump said Blagojevich did something that "lots of politicians" do, adding his prison sentence was excessive for merely saying something dumb. An outspoken conservative since his undergraduate days at Dartmouth College in the early 1980s, D'Souza - born in Mumbai to an Indian Catholic family - was a onetime advisor in the Ronald Reagan White House.

In August 2017, he pardoned Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who had been convicted of criminal contempt of court.

D'Souza, of San Diego, originally claimed that he was singled out for prosecution because of his views opposing former President Barack Obama. The students had lost 17 classmates and teachers in a shooting that month.

"Worst news since their parents told them to get summer jobs", D'Souza tweeted next to a photo of students disappointed by the Florida legislature's failure to approve a ban on assault weapons.

The tweets have been sharply criticized by some Florida Republicans, including Gov. Rick Scott. "Martha Stewart never would have gone to jail if she hadn't gone and testified".
