MGOLF Concludes Season at Columbus Regional

Florida won the NCAA Regional by 12 shots while the Gators, host team UCF, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Kent State will advance to the NCAA Championship by virtue of their top five finish.

The result of this regional decided which teams would advance to the NCAA Championship.

The senior opened the day with a 1-under 35 on the front nine and finished with par on each of his final six holes.

Senior Matthew Perrine finished in a tie for 14th place. The Seminoles were three strokes back to begin the third and final round and were able to make up ground, but not enough. Chris Petefish had a 74 and his score was not counted for today's round. Charles Huntzinger closed his season with a 2-over 73 and finished in a tie for 28th. Murlick's average score of 4.50 on Par 5 holes was tied for fifth best during the tournament, while he finished with 10 birdies and 32 pars.

Paced by the tied for fifth-place finish of former Shawnee Mission East golfer Andy Spencer and tied for ninth-place finish of Daniel Sutton, the Jayhawks on Wednesday won the NCAA Pacific Regional contested at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif. Top-ranked Oklahoma State didn't get the job done at a home NCAA Championship in 2011. He is in a tie for 27th, one shot ahead of freshman Wilson Furr, who finished with a 1-over 73. Murlick's performance broke the Marquette record for a 54-hole performance at an NCAA regional. The only better mark was 823 on a par-70 course at the 2017 Stanford Regional.

It was the final chapter in a stellar season that earned Sargent a spot on the All-Conference USA Second Team, the first all-league honors for a Hilltopper since 2010. Mauer carded a 4-over par 76, followed by a 3-over par 75 in the final round to pace the team in 47th with a 7-over par 151. The Sooners fired a 5-under-par 283. Phillips edged Clemson's Doc Redman and teammate Brandon Smith, who both shot 10 under par for the tournament. Freshman Jack Trent tied for 37th at 11-over 224.

Individually, the Bears placed two under par for the tournament.
